Gallery | 1953 Gretsch 6185
1953 Gretsch Electromatic 6185 Archtop Electric Guitar. Natural Finish.16 inches wide, One DeArmond pickup (8.8k ohms in circuit), volume and tone with clear knobs.
Everything looks original except for the tuning pegs, some of the back binding has been patched, and the end pin (strap button) is new. Output jack has been replaced. Its been re-fretted with stainless steel frets. The neck doesn't have an adjustable truss rod and the re-fret job was done to accommodate medium flatwound strings (.013 - 056). The neck has just the right amount of relief with these strings. Anything lighter and it might be buzzy. The neck has been reset with a little more pitch than it originally would have had. Lots of nicks, dings scratches and amateur touch-ups. Finish on both sides of neck worn through from player wear.
Laminated spruce top and laminated (?) maple back and sides. rosewood fretboard, maple neck.
